No? Yea, me either. Of course I say I do sometimes, but I'm not being very honest at those moments.
I just don't feel that I am living a life that could cost me my life. And didn't Jesus say it would be that way? If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. The world, whom Satan is lord, murdered Jesus because he was not of this world. What makes us think we wont be next? What makes us think we should be safe?
Don't get me wrong, I know that Jesus is more powerful still and his Spirit is guiding us through whatever challenges we face. But we will still face those challenges when we live fully in love-- in love with Jesus and his creation.
I wish I had an answer, but I don't. I just know that something IS missing, and I intend to find it. Will you join me in a reckless pursuit to live a self-sacrificing life that honors and glorifies God?
Just one more point I want to make...
You may feel the same way I do, but come up with a different solution. You may try to say that your life will glorify God if you just choose to glorify God in everything you are currently doing in life right now. Whatever you eat or drink, do to the glory of God. I believe that, but I think it is shallow if we think just eating and drinking is living the radical life Jesus demands of his followers. Let us take the seriousness of feeling distant from God and not fully desiring his presence as a warning and judgement from God himself that we should seek out how to follow Jesus more fully and enter into a closer relationship with Jesus on HIS terms, not OUR terms. It is a prophetic message to those who feel apathy towards the creator of the universe. If the Spirit of Jesus lives in us, wont we desire to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength? To have it otherwise seems unreasonable, even unthinkable, and certainly ludicrous. We need to seek him and obey what he commanded us. Certainly we missed something.
