Forgotten Reality

Don't you know you are out of your mind?

You've lost touch with reality, letting that book take you.

Just another victim... thinking the whole world can bend to your reality if only you believe it.

Don't you know, you're the only one who sees these monsters, these epic creatures of old, and a story filled with magic, ghosts, and miracles?

Just come back. There's a whole world waiting before your eyes. A world I sacrificed everything for so that you can have more, and now you're wasting all of it for a dream that's not real nor rooted in reality.

It's myth, make believe, preposterous that such things exist, or could happen except in the mind of those who wield this power to manipulate and control the masses for their own gain.

You've lost the context of the original meaning of that book. You can no longer apply this ancient teaching to this life.

Just look how we've conquered all by our own power, and now it's your turn to contribute.

We don't need more theologians spreading seeds of wonder and faith in unknowns. We need scientists and engineers to solve the world's problems for the next generation.

Give up your foolish beliefs. See past them and come back to this world where you can be happy...and make me happy.

...

I wish I could give a defense to all your accusations and clairvoyance about my life and this world.

Unfortunately, I can't.

For it's true, I am in another plane of reality entirely because when I close my eyes, I see the mountains moving and the heavens opened.

There's no defense I can give to make mythical creatures, nature-defying miracles, and terror causing spirits seem logical or grounded in the reality of this world.

For all I know I have lost it, and the best place for me is in the crazy house with the rest of the dreamers who've become a danger to this world of yours.

For what possible explanation can I give to someone whose only seen the world with human eyes and has never grasped something beyond themselves or this world?

If you could get a glimpse of the greater story then you would see the epic clash of good and evil, flying horses and stinging scorpions towering over us, and even Jesus who entered into the world to change the very fabric of its make-up, the very basis of it all.

When I talk about it out loud I have to admit, I think you're right, I have lost it, gone so far from where I used to sit, and where you still are, remaining as you are.

But I know this one thing that you also will have to admit. Because of this other reality you say I'm in, hasn't my entire life been impacted?

You can't tell me I'm the same person I used to be. Just remember the person I was and tell me I haven't grown in love, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control.

Can't you recognize that the reason this love radiates forth from my very core is because of the dream that you are trying to destroy?

To save a lost world would you sacrifice all of that?

So I say, yes I hear your accusation, but no, I will not recant, not go back, not stop pursuing the love whose encounter changed my world.

And I will not go back to a world without hope, for I have something greater awaiting me, a world you can't see but one which is revealed to me whenever I close my eyes on dark nights or see the suffering around the world.

These revelations have made me a stranger here, and though I know how you treat your foreigners, in my heart I know it's better to be a stranger here than follow your dreams and passions of self-fulfillment and worldly pleasure that end in destruction and lost hope.

There is one greater, the King of Glory, the Christ, who cannot lie, nor reside with any kind of evil, but is only and always good, and in Him do I hope because He promised he would fail me not, nor forsake me, for...

"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written,

'For your sake we are being killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.'

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us, for I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."
